39 Weeks & Nursery Reveal

3 So today I am officially 39 weeks and 6 days.

I have this surreal feeling that I cannot describe, almost as if I have taken a valium and am completely calm and relaxed permanently.

I keep visualizing my labor and birth and meeting baby R for the first time.

I have been waiting for this for so very long and my everything waits in lovely anticipation. Every kick and movement I feel brings me so much love and makes me feel closer to my son. This last part of pregnancy has been amazing and I feel so connected to my husband and everything just feels right.

Not going to do my usual update this week and instead will reveal our nursery, I feel the room turned out perfect and has a little mix of old and new that will be a very special place for our son. Hard to believe that this empty room that I used to lay on the floor and cry in mourning is now my dream nursery where I can nurse, love, sing to, and soothe my baby boy.

Dreams do come true.

Enjoy!12541071189

Will post again after my 40 Week appointment with the midwife unless baby makes his debut first!

34 Weeks & Surrounded by Pink Peonies

peonie 1

How far along: 34 Weeks Today!

Total Weight Gain/Loss: At my appointment last week I weighed 132 lbs.

Maternity clothes: Yes and living in dresses at the moment.

Stretch marks: Not yet..and nearly out of my special belly oil.

Sleep: Oh yes and very deep sleep lately, still waking up to go to the bathroom, but finally able to sleep in past 6:00 am.

Best moment last week: My baby shower! Oh my goodness, it was a dream. Truly- my sister outdid herself!  I was not only  surrouned by friends and family who supported me during my struggle with infertility but also pink peonies (my very favorite flower) and everything was truly stunning, no detail was overlooked! This baby is already loved by so many and my heart warms at all of the love we received at the shower.

(Here are a few photos of the lovlieness and I am still enjoying the flowers as you can see!)

Movement: All the time! And at my last prenatal appointment last week, I was told that baby is already head down and will probably stay that way until birth!

Food cravings/Aversions: Loving all food lately! Mostly fresh vegetables and fruit! Trying to up my protein intake and eating more eggs now that I have my kitchen back!

Mood/Energy: Slowing down and napping again. A few friends told me I would get a second energy burst towards the last few weeks, and boy am I going to need it as I need to not only get my little one’s nursery in order but my entire house!

Labor signs: No, but I did have a little scare last week and called my mom to ask her what labor felt like. I could barely walk and had so much pressure down “there” that I thought I was having contractions. I think I just needed rest and went to bed early and woke up feeling much better!

Belly Button : Stretched and odd looking.

What I miss: Nothing! Feeling content and savoring every last moment of being pregnant.

What I am looking forward to: Putting babys’ nursery and wardrobe together!

Milestones: 34 weeks today, taking the hospital tour, beginning birth classes…finally feeling like I can relax and really start nesting.

ps: my mini home remodel is officially complete! Turned out beautiful and will post pictures soon!

And last but not least, me at 34 weeks pregnant!

32 Weeks and Taking a Peaceful Breath

week 32

Oh my goodness- it’s been a long time! This past month has flown by and I cannot believe I haven’t posted in 4 whole weeks! Below is my most recent update along with some photos to share with you of what I have been up to lately!

How far along: 32 Weeks and 4 days

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Since 27 Weeks I have gained another 6 pounds so 131 lbs.

Maternity clothes: Oh yes. I ventured into Pea in the Pod and Motherhood for the first time the other day and came out with three new dresses and two really soft tank tops.

Stretch marks: Not yet- but my tummy is full of blue veins.

Sleep: Better. Sleeping really deep lately, and literally fall asleep the minute my head touches the pillow. Still waking up early, but getting used to that and finding that early morning between 5:30-6:30 am is my favorite time of day.

Best moment last week: Finally buying my crib! (Thank you Mom!) I chose the Catalina from PBK and I am so relieved I have a crib sitting in my garage waiting to be put together – yay!

catalina

Movement: Like crazy! This little one moves quite a bit and last week I either saw a foot or a hand poking through and it was the cutest thing ever! Actually the site surprised me and of course I got emotional and started crying.

(Growing a baby is simply amazing! )

Food cravings/Aversions: Good bye aversions – hello cravings and the ultimate love of food. Oh my goodness, everything tastes so delicious these days, and I am so happy that we have summer fruit galore; watermelons, grapes, strawberries, juicy nectarines- yum. Now I am just eyeing my green tomatoes growing in my garden and cannot wait to make tomato sandwiches once they have vine ripened. (English muffin, mayo, tomato, and salt) mmmmm and a little avocado and red onion wouldn’t hurt either!

Mood/Energy: Slowing down finally, but my nesting has kicked into full gear. As we are nearing the end of our mini home remodel project, I have the organization and cleaning bug and thank goodness lots of energy. Looking forward to putting my home back together in the next few weeks before baby’s arrival.

Labor signs: Nope –just good ol’ Braxton Hicks- as my uterus is preparing.

Belly button: Stretched and odd looking.

What I miss: Nothing at the moment- super content and happy!

What I am looking forward to: Starting my hypnobirthing classes, next ultrasound, hospital tour, putting my nursery together, and my baby shower next weekend! Below is an example of my baby shower invitation-although mine is so much cuter!  How adorable is this:

21-23 Weeks Pregnant and Time S-L-O-W Down!

grapefruit

How far along: 23 weeks and baby was the size of a pomegranate and is now is the size of a grapefruit.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 123 pounds- up 3 lbs from 3 weeks ago.

Maternity clothes: Oh yes, feeling large and in charge these days. Maternity shirts and pants are my friend. Oh and still trying to sport a few non-maternity dresses for as long as I can.

Stretch marks: Not yet…and religiously dowsing myself with elasticity oil and lotion daily.

Sleep: Hmmm ok- the good sleeping days are officially over. Tossing and turning, moaning, and now waking up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. I just keep telling myself that I am preparing my body and mind for a newborn and that makes everything ok.

Best moment last week: Finally deciding on a crib! Didn’t realize what a difficult decision this would be for me. Too bad it’s on backorder until June 1.

Movement: Oh yes-all the time.. and I love it! I must admit, when I don’t feel movement for an hour or so I start to panic a bit and will try and get him to move by placing my hands on my belly – is that bad?

Food cravings/Aversions: Still not a fan of garlic and onions, but I can eat them now without feeling sick. I was on a Cheerios and banana kick for a while, and lately just needing ice water all the time.

Mood/Energy: So far so good, not needing to nap, but on the weekends I have been indulging if I have time. I worked in my garden last weekend and the physical activity kicked my butt! Oh and I have been super emotional these days, I cried at a Masters commercial that aired on TV last weekend -really?

Labor signs: Nope- but some days I have round ligament pains and oh boy do they hurt.

Belly Button: Not sure what is going on with it- seems to be stretching, but not popping out yet.

What I miss: Nothing yet..

What I am looking forward to: Getting the glucose test over with-so much hype surrounding this event. Oh & painting the nursery! I’ll be sure to include some before and after pictures- so much fun!

And this was taken at 23 weeks:

20 Weeks, Anatomy Scan &…. Surprise!

For as long as I can remember, I had always imagined my first born as a little girl. So naturally, when I became pregnant I immediately thought we were having a girl, as did my husband and our friends and even our family too! (Basically everyone) So when we pulled  our “potty shots” out of the gender reveal envelope after our anatomy scan and saw a little penis and the words boy written below the picture, our whole world expanded that much bigger! Yes, we were shocked- but in a completely amazing and refreshing way! Finding out the gender brings so much more to the picture of this pregnancy and allowed us to fully engage envisioning our future life as a new mother and father. Since finding out we are having a son, J and I are feeling even more blessed than normal and I even went out and bought my first baby purchase since finding out we were pregnant!

How far along: 20 Weeks and baby is the size of a Banana

Total Weight Gain/Loss: 120 lbs- up another pound!

Maternity clothes: Yes and the cool weather is back so loving my maternity leggings (which I’ll probably wear for the rest of my life…shhh!) and the bump is definitely out for all to see.

Stretch marks: Not yet- but guess what is showing up? A very light version of the linea nigra!

Sleep: Well… still sleeping deeply but have been uncomfortable and apparently moaning and making odd noises in my sleep- oh and I started using a fluffy pillow between my legs and love the extra support.

Best moment last week: Finding out the gender!

Movement: Oh yes.. our little one is a little wiggle worm and I love feeling his movement

(eek- I said “his”!)

Food cravings/Aversions: Nothing that I have to have, but really enjoying food right now. Still no marina sauce or garlic or onions please!

Mood/Energy: Feeling happy and energetic for the most part.. some days when I have round ligament pains I need to rest and put my feet up, but for the most part I am feeling really well.

Labor signs: Not yet!

Belly button: Still in

What I miss: Nothing!

What I am looking forward to: Designing my nursery and starting home projects that I have been dreaming up, let the nesting begin! Or should I say continue… lets face it I have been “nesting” for years!

Milestones: Finding out our little miracle- baby -love- child is a son and the halfway point of pregnancy!

And this is what 20 weeks looks like!

Stim Check Number One

top

The outcome after being on stimulation meds for 5 days is as follows:

Right Ovary: 4 follicles all measuring about 7 mm

Left Ovary: 2 follicles all measuring about 7 mm

The ultra sound was super quick and Dr. S didn’t seem concerned with getting exact measurements for each follicle, instead he just clumped their sizes all together in the 7mm range.

According to Dr. S-my uterine lining looked great; follicles are maturing at about the same pace and I am responding as he had expected I would.

Then why did I leave feeling slightly defeated?

Being that this is my first cycle, I really don’t know how I should be responding.

Is this good? Bad? Indifferent?

Right after my ultrasound I met with my sweet nurse, whom reminded me while she was taking my blood for E2 levels, that it is quality over quantity.

I smiled at the reminder as “Quality vs. Quantity”  has pretty much been my motto for this whole IVF process.

After all the excitement of our early morning stim check appointment, and a second mid morning appointment with a client I decided I needed some “me” time. Soon thereafter, I found myself driving to my favorite nursery so that I could carouse the plant and tree isles aimlessly in peace and quiet. I even picked up a few shrubs and grasses for my side yard project that we are about to start.

Oh –and as an early birthday gift to myself, I bought a camellia plant which I have been eyeing for a long time.

I chose a camellia plant that had tons of bulbs ready to burst with color… I chose pink flowers, becuase I love the softness that pink brings to a yard full of greenery.

These are going to be so  pretty don’t you think…

PinkCamellias

Well, my next stim check appointment is Wednesday November 6, and this happens to  also be my 33 rd birthday.

Praying my birthday wish comes true once and for all!
